Passover 2020 with Hillel at Stanford

Hagaddah insert Hillel at Stanford

To our Dear Students and Community,

Enclosed you will find a compilation of wisdom from Hillel to bring to your seder. In it you will find contributions from Hillel, sharing our inspiration with you, words of greeting from President of Stanford University Marc Tessier-Lavigne, and a selection of Stanford-inspired activities to bring to your Seder.

Each of the four Stanford readings are based on quotations from the writings of several Stanford faculty, and are intended to bring a connection to your Stanford community no matter where you find yourself in the world for Seder.  Most, if not all, are likely familiar to Stanford students, current and alumni alike. Some bring more controversy than others! All are designed to spark discussion and debate at your Seder this year.

Less is more: We recommend choosing just one or two to bring to your seder table. Each includes a recommendation for where they might best fit in the seder, but really - they go anywhere. Just pick one and use it whenever it feels right.

We know this is an unusual and difficult year to be celebrating Passover. Most, if not all, of you are not having the Seder you originally planned. Included at the beginning of the supplements is a kavanna, intention, permission, for those who may need it, to have a less than perfect seder this year. Chag Baree, Kasher v’Sameach,

Blessing you with a healthy, meaningful Passover journey,

Hillel at Stanford

Rabbi Jessica Kirschner, Rabbi Evelyn Baz, Leah Newman, Jeremy Ragent, Lisa Simons, Ben Zeiger, Jason Kuperberg, Leeya Fryder, Nathalie Landesman, Ian Anstee, Rotem Saar, and Rich Stoner
