Jewish Life and Learning

I almost take Hillel for granted, it's so much a part of my life. I have slept here. I eat here. I hand out here. I work here. I basically live at Hillel.

Hillel@Stanford offers a hub and home for students hungry for a sense of tradition, belonging, and community. The heart and soul of Hillel is welcoming students in an intellectually challenging, pluralistic environment with the warmth of a nurturing community.

In honor of the Half-Century Anniversary milestone, Hillel@Stanford is commissioning a new Torah scroll to be used at all Jewish observances associated with Hillel@Stanford. It is being created in Israel and will be used for the first time at the 50th anniversary of High Holy Day services on the Stanford campus in the fall of 2016.

Investment in this area will:
  • Support the expansion of Hillel’s Friday evening Shabbat and holiday programs, which provide much needed opportunity for Stanford students to relax and gather with friends, amidst the intensity of college life.
  • Provide students with fellowship learning opportunities focused on issues that matter to students, helping young adults discover Judaism in a sophisticated and intellectually open format, and form friendships and networks of Jewish peers.
  • Support kosher dining. Hillel provides significant financial support for kosher dining each year. A long-term investment will help expand and diversify the student body, welcome traditional students and faculty, and support a pluralistic Jewish community at Stanford.
Naming opportunities available.
